About this course

Speaker Information

Lyndsay Simmons, MRT (MR), (R). PhD Candidate, McMaster University presents on Shaping the Future: Inspiring Women in the World of Medical Imaging. This presentation aims to inspire resilience, empower women in leadership, foster collaboration and mentorship, and encourage innovation and research.

Dr. Paula Gordon, OC, OBC, MD, FRCPC, FSBI, Clinical Professor, University of British Columbia discusses Updates on Early Detection Breast Cancer. The presentation will focus on explaining breast density and the risks of dense breasts, describing other imaging modalities useful for supplemental screening in women with dense breasts, discussing the importance of advocacy by women, and more.

Ellyn Winters-Robinson, she/her, CEO, The Lyndall Project, discusses Finding Purpose in Diagnosis - The Woman and the Story Behind AskEllyn, the World's First AI Companion for Those Impacted by Breast Cancer. Diagnosed in March of 2022, Ellyn Winters-Robinson felt firsthand the fear, bewilderment and loneliness that overwhelms women impacted by breast cancer. Rather than hide away in shame, Ellyn chose to embrace her fate -- recognizing that the universe had other designs for her. Since that time, Ellyn has turned her knowledge into power and is using her experience to bring help and hope to others impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis. Through her Instagram account @flatplease, her best-selling book Flat Please, Hold the Shame, and her AI companion and blog https://www.askellyn.ai, Ellyn has found a transformative purpose and is now helping women around the world diagnosed with breast cancer to never walk alone.

Dr. Ania Kielar, MD, FRCPC, FACR, FCAR, University of Toronto, Canadian Association of Radiologists presents on "Pearls I Have Learned as a Woman in Leadership." The presentation includes how to identify your own strengths to move your career forward, becoming a leader no matter what your title may be, and incorporating concepts of teamwork for long term happiness at work.
